I kind of love break up songs. There are Sad Break-Up songs, Angry Break-Up songs, there are even Happy Break-Up songs. What are Happy Break-Up songs? It’s like the singer is saying, “Thank God you’re gone, because I can’t stand you anymore!”
With feisty, fun songs like I’ll See Ya, Never and I’m so Done with You, Celine Lee has mastered Happy Break-up songs. The best Happy Break-up song on Celine’s self-titled album has to be Don’t Let the Screen Door Hit Ya:
Listen to Don’t Let the Screen Door Hit Ya
If you’re excuse is going to be “Oh, I don’t like Country” or “Oh, I don’t like New Country” Well thank goodness, this is neither. This is Ameripolitan music; music with prominent roots influence. Ameripolitan was phrased and embraced by musicians that were sick of the confines of what Country music has come to stand for. “Too country for country,” as if that’s a dirty word. The genre includes: Rockabilly, Western Swing, & Honky Tonk. Listen to an interview with Celine Lee explain the genre and how she got to being part of it.
